iFIT Brings AI Personal Trainer to Samsung Galaxy Devices. iFIT is expanding its Samsung Health partnership by bringing its AI coaching platform Tailor to compatible Galaxy devices later this year, using Galaxy Watch health data to generate personalized daily workouts and adaptive weekly training plans across strength, HIIT, cardio, cycling, yoga, and mindfulness.

Training Tilt Connects Endurance Coaching to Claude and ChatGPT. Training Tilt launched an MCP server giving endurance coaches a direct connection between their athlete data and AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT, without putting a proprietary algorithm between coach and athlete.

Garmin Launches Screen-Free Smart Band. Garmin introduced the CIRQA Smart Band, its first screenless wearable delivering Body Battery, HRV, VO2 max, sleep stages, and training readiness without a display or subscription. The band uses adaptive AI to learn and more accurately classify activities over time, and is available now for $199.99.

BirdieSense Raises Funding for Vision-Powered Golf AI. PathFinder has closed a multi-million dollar angel round to bring BirdieSense to market, a camera-based golf AI device that reconstructs ball trajectory, analyzes swing mechanics, and delivers real-time coaching feedback without radar or simulator hardware.

Flowstate AI Scores a 12-Hour Surf Marathon. Flowstate deployed its new surfing foundation model during a 12-hour surf marathon at URBNSURF Sydney, automatically tracking, scoring, and logging every wave ridden by two athletes with no manual review required. The model, trained on 20 million waves, also ran three live gamification formats simultaneously.

Strava, MyFitnessPal, and Oura Lead AI Fitness Recommendations. A new AI Visibility Index tracked 60+ fitness prompts across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews, finding that Strava leads all fitness apps in AI citations at 13%, followed by MyFitnessPal at 10% and Peloton at 8%.

Cyclist Disqualified for AI Sunglasses. South African cyclist Willie Smit was disqualified from a race in China recently for wearing Oakley Meta Vanguard AI sunglasses with a built-in camera, under a UCI rule banning data-capturing devices introduced in April. Smit noted the apparent inconsistency with the Tour de France, where a rider filmed with a handheld camera during racing without penalty.

MLB Bans AI Strategy Tools from Dugout iPads. Major League Baseball has blocked teams from using custom software tabs on dugout iPads after discovering clubs were running AI programs to assist with pitch calling, substitutions, and in-game strategy. The New York Mets were identified as a primary example, with one former player saying the team had invested several hundred thousand dollars in an AI pitching program.

India's Table Tennis League Debuts AI Officiating. India's Ultimate Table Tennis league introduced the Table Tennis Review system this season, using computer vision and AI-based video analysis to assist officials with edge-ball and service decisions in under 20 seconds.

Canyon Unveils AI-Powered Safety Bike. Canyon revealed the Canyon Predict, a prototype road bike using Edge AI to detect hazards, monitor traffic, and assess road conditions in real time. When a risk is identified, the system alerts the rider through visual cues and haptics, and can automatically lower the seatpost to improve stability before impact.

AI Smart Textiles Are Moving Into Sportswear. The global smart textiles market is projected to grow from $9.6 billion in 2026 to $25.5 billion by 2030, as Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour embed AI-driven sensors directly into garments to monitor heart rate, muscle fatigue, and movement in real time.

Tyred Raises £2.5M for AI Bike Ownership Platform. British startup Tyred closed a £2.5 million funding round to build a connected ownership platform for cyclists combining maintenance, insurance, warranty, and finance into a single digital experience powered by IoT sensors and predictive AI.

WNBA star Kelsey Plum became the first professional female athlete to launch a verified AI digital twin, allowing fans to have real-time voice conversations with a digital version of herself.
